Anthropic has opened its first India office in Bengaluru, making it the company's second Asian location after Tokyo. The move comes just days after the AI company raised thirty billion dollars in Series G funding, valuing it at three hundred and eighty billion dollars.

Anthropic Plants Flag in India with Bengaluru Office

Anthropic, the maker of the Claude AI chatbot, has officially opened its first office in India, located in Bengaluru's Embassy Golf Links Tech Park. The expansion marks the company's second office in Asia Pacific, following its Tokyo location, and comes just days after Anthropic closed a massive thirty billion dollar Series G funding round.

Record-Breaking Funding Fuels Global Ambitions

The Series G round, led by Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC and venture capital firm Coatue Management, valued Anthropic at three hundred and eighty billion dollars, more than doubling its previous valuation of one hundred and eighty-three billion dollars from September twenty twenty-five. The round attracted a sprawling roster of investors including Fidelity, Sequoia Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Microsoft, and NVIDIA, making it the second-largest venture funding deal of all time.

India Emerges as Key Growth Market

India ranks as Anthropic's second-largest market globally for consumer usage of Claude, behind only the United States. The company's run-rate revenue in India has doubled since October twenty twenty-five. Under Managing Director Irina Ghose, the Bengaluru office will focus on hiring local talent across diverse roles.

Strategic Partnerships Across Sectors

Anthropic has announced partnerships spanning enterprise, education, and agriculture in India. Pratham, one of India's largest education nonprofits, has chosen Anthropic as its first strategic AI lab partner, piloting an AI-powered testing system across twenty schools with plans to scale to one hundred. The company is also working with organisations like Digital Green and Adalat AI to build locally relevant AI evaluations across agriculture and law.

Financial Momentum Continues

Anthropic's overall run-rate revenue has reached fourteen billion dollars, growing more than tenfold annually for three consecutive years. Claude Code, its AI programming assistant, has emerged as a standout product with run-rate revenue surpassing two point five billion dollars. The company, which has raised over fifty-seven billion dollars since its founding in twenty twenty-one, is reportedly preparing for a potential initial public offering within the next twelve to eighteen months.
