Anthropic is finalising a massive funding round expected to raise over twenty billion dollars at a three hundred and fifty billion dollar valuation, nearly doubling its value from just five months ago. The Claude maker has attracted investment from major players including Sequoia Capital, GIC, Microsoft, and Nvidia, as it prepares for a potential IPO in twenty twenty-six.

Anthropic's Record-Breaking Fundraise

Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company behind the Claude chatbot, is on the verge of closing a funding round that could raise more than twenty billion dollars at a staggering three hundred and fifty billion dollar valuation. The deal, expected to finalise within days, represents a ninety-one percent increase from the company's September twenty twenty-five Series F round, which valued the firm at one hundred and eighty-three billion dollars.

Investor Frenzy Doubles the Target

The company originally sought ten billion dollars but has seen overwhelming demand, with reports suggesting up to six times the investor interest initially expected. Major backers include Sequoia Capital, Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC, Coatue Management, and Iconiq Capital, each committing over a billion dollars. Microsoft and Nvidia have also disclosed intentions to invest up to five billion and ten billion dollars respectively.

Revenue Growth Fuels Confidence

Unlike many AI startups commanding sky-high valuations on promises alone, Anthropic has backed its pricing with genuine revenue momentum. The company's annualised revenue reached approximately nine billion dollars by the end of twenty twenty-five, up from one billion at the start of that year. Claude Code, the company's AI coding tool, hit one billion dollars in annualised revenue just six months after its May twenty twenty-five launch.

IPO Preparations and Market Position

Anthropic has engaged law firm Wilson Sonsini to prepare for a potential initial public offering as early as twenty twenty-six. The company is also running a tender offer allowing employees to sell shares at the three hundred and fifty billion dollar valuation. Meanwhile, Amazon's eight billion dollar investment in Anthropic is now worth over sixty billion dollars, representing a seven-fold return. The deal positions Anthropic as a formidable challenger to OpenAI, which is reportedly seeking up to one hundred billion dollars at an eight hundred and thirty billion dollar valuation.
