Nvidia has announced a wave of partnerships with South Korean tech leaders including SK Hynix, SK Telecom, Naver and Doosan as CEO Jensen Huang visits the country to lock in memory supply and expand AI infrastructure. The headline deal is a multi-year memory partnership with SK Hynix spanning chip design and manufacturing, while SK Telecom plans a gigawatt-scale AI cloud coming online in 2027.
Nvidia Deepens Its Grip on the AI Supply Chain
Nvidia on Monday announced a sweeping set of partnerships with South Korean technology companies as CEO Jensen Huang toured the country to strengthen ties with Asia's chip industry. The agreements span memory chips, cloud computing and robotics, and arrive as global demand for AI infrastructure continues to outstrip supply. Partners include SK Hynix, SK Telecom, internet giant Naver and conglomerate Doosan, with LG and Hyundai Motor also engaging with Huang during the visit.A Multi-Year Memory Partnership With SK Hynix
At the centre of the agreements is a multi-year technology partnership with SK Hynix, South Korea's leading memory chip maker and already Nvidia's largest memory supplier. Huang said the deal spans more than two years with the option to extend. Bloomberg reported the pact covers both chip design and manufacturing, with Nvidia helping SK Hynix diversify into areas including physical AI and memory for Vera Rubin, Nvidia's most powerful accelerator platform. SK Group, parent of both SK Hynix and SK Telecom, said the partnerships would help supply keep pace with Nvidia's expanding plans across robotics, personal computers and AI supercomputers.Cloud, Sovereign AI and Robotics
Beyond memory, the deals reach into cloud and robotics. SK Telecom announced plans to build a gigawatt-scale AI cloud in South Korea using Nvidia technology, with its first data centre projected to come online in 2027. Naver will use Nvidia's platform to build sovereign AI capabilities, starting with 55 megawatts of capacity and an ultimate gigawatt-scale goal. Doosan, which makes materials used in Nvidia's Blackwell chips, expects its energy solutions to feature in Nvidia data centre platforms. Nvidia is also collaborating with LG on electronics, mechanical systems and humanoid robotics.Markets Rebound
The announcements coincided with a rebound in US technology stocks after last week's sell-off. The Nasdaq 100 rallied around 1.5% while Nvidia shares gained roughly 1.7%, after the stock had dropped 6.2% on 5 June. Micron Technology advanced more than 8% as investors returned to semiconductor names. The South Korea deals mark Nvidia's latest effort to lock in supply chains and expand its customer base as competition for AI computing infrastructure intensifies worldwide.Published June 9, 2026 at 12:58pm
